01 appTechJano · The tools I built to keep learning
The tools I built to teach myself this craft.
I'm a solo developer who taught himself to code, so I built my own tools to learn faster and ship without cutting corners. These aren't products for sale — they're how one superintendent-turned-builder keeps getting better, one project at a time. I lean on AI the way I'd lean on any good tool: to learn the craft, never to replace the learning.
tonka-orchestrator
Scaffolds and iterates these apps across a constellation of models — local qwen on a Mac, Apple Foundation Models on device, and Claude — with a pre-flight discipline that classifies and routes each task before any code is written.
- Multi-LLM
- Ollama / qwen
- Apple FoundationModels
- Claude
jano-field-photo-report
Turns field photos of a construction defect into a professional diagnostic report — color-coded markup, labeled diagrams, root-cause analysis, a remediation plan, and a multi-page PDF, keyed to CSI MasterFormat divisions.
- Vision
- Annotation
- CSI MasterFormat
ios-swift-build
A reusable build playbook for native iOS — XcodeGen and xcodebuild, Swift 6 concurrency defaults, offline-first persistence patterns, privacy manifests, and signing through to TestFlight. The spine under every iOS app here.
- XcodeGen
- Swift 6
- Offline-first
- TestFlight
dispatch-and-grade
Delegates batches of work to sub-models, auto-grades the output, and keeps a scorecard per model and task type — so routing decisions get better with evidence instead of guesswork.
- Routing
- Auto-grading
- Scorecards
DocForge
A local document engine that turns structured content and a chosen look into a graded, standards-clean PDF — resumes, reports, one-pagers, decks — on a Typst typesetting spine, with a Chrome design lane and a quality-floor grader that won't let a sloppy document out the door.

About
From the field to the App Store.
I'm Terrence J. Kostelny. For 15 years I was a construction superintendent — running multi-million-dollar jobs where a missed detail costs real money and a missed safety call costs more. I build software the way I ran a site: offline-first, brand-cohesive, and held to the highest quality-control standard.
JANO Field came first — field intelligence for the people I used to work beside. TechJano is the studio it grew into. Since then I've shipped across construction (Dig It, InspectorGadget), consumer apps (MomWon — free forever, built for my mom), and social impact — Haven, born at Urban Peak's youth shelter, for the kids who haven't had a fair shake.
I'm a solo developer. I taught myself the programming languages these are built in, one project at a time, and I work to stay humble and teachable — there's no big team and no AI doing the work for me, just me learning the craft and the tools above that I built to learn it faster. Every product here is offline-first, privacy-respecting, and made to be used where it matters: a real jobsite, a kitchen table, or a kid's wrist.
- 15 years in the field
- 8 apps in testing
- 4 market sectors
- Offline-first, every one
